Look Back At It…
We can never see the Forest
of Life because of the Trees of Timber. The old folks like to say that “They are
sending up timber”, in the form of
praises. First of all, it’s a blessing to be able to have a life to look back over.
Why is it that when we are on the way to our destination
that we miss so much? We are in such a
hurry to get there that we forget to relish the journey to; and it’s not only
until we come to the fro that we
start realizing all that we had failed to see from the outset. Mentioning phrases like, “I didn't see that
before, or I didn't notice that when we passed this way before.” I wonder why that is…
Tsk, tsk! There is so
much that we miss being hurried to get to the next level in life that if we are
not careful, we miss not only the journey, but the lesson needed to be learned
to carry on with us to be used as oil to keep our lamps of faith burning and eliminating our vision on a darkened path. The path is always dark when we've never
ventured that way before. God is our
light and our refuge, and he orders our steps; and is the lamp to our feet and
the light on our path.
Try to appreciate and
savor both sojourning the trek to the Promise
Land just as much as when you enter into
it. The Joy comes from knowing how far you have traveled in God to get to
your Expected End. God wouldn't allow us to go through it, if it
weren't meant to benefit us in the long
run. Nothing is wasted in God.
If you want to find a
reason to keep going – just “Look Back At
It”, and I guarantee you’ll find reason enough to give God praise and worship
for what he has already done; and that will be your timber to go up, for what
he is about to do in your life.
