There it is!!!

As the word says, “It’s the little foxes that spoil the vine”, the minute slights of life that tend to creep in and attempt to steal our joy and if we are honest, a lot of the times, it does.  But thankfully, when we are in God and God in us, he sends a word or a blessing that restores such a one’s joy!
There it is! The CATCH! Or shall I say the caveat that our joy is dependent upon – The joy of the Lord is our strength.  We have to seek the Lord first, and then it will be added or restored unto us.
There’s a running theme with the Father – Him first and all these other things (blessings) will be added.

Tenure vs. Experience

Tenure vs. Experience

Tenure in God started for many early on in life, some were raised up in the church, or the yellow school bus filled with mainly whites and some blacks, who we only knew as Brother So-and-so; vacation bible school or underneath the apron of a Big Momma aka Nana or Grandma.
However, everyone didn't get that kind of ingrained start in life, or even indoctrinated, but does that weaken or lessen the Experience that any given person has in God?
Tenure: is nothing more than time put in to something.  Experience: is having the skill or knowledge that you get by doing something.
God is infinite and eternal – time really doesn't matter much to him because he is both outside and inside of it.  What I think that God is interested in, and this is only my personal opinion; but I believe that he wants us to have an experience in him.  Only by and through experience we gain faith; ergo – without faith it is impossible to please him.
I can be a long-standing friend of a personal trainer, but if I don’t work out for myself, the length of our relationship will not cause me to lose weight and to be in-shape – I have to work at it and become knowledgeable about good eating habits and workout routines.  Now coupled with skillful knowledge and tenure, success is guaranteed.

We get out of this life a reward of what we put into it.  We can live a long life, get all the 120 years that the Lord said that we can possibly have but live it short of what he has for us.  What’s the point of living a fruitless, tenured life?  God wants us to experience life in him to the fullest.

P.O.W. - Prisoners of War

Black people have been seen as, and called many things: ex-slaves, interlopers, vagrants; but I think what best describes us as a people are P.O.W.’s – Prisoners of War.
To quote Winston Churchill who so poignantly stated “A prisoner of war is a man who tries to kill you and fails, and then asks you not to kill him.”  Is that not what America tried to do blacks?
Blacks are P.O.W.’s learning to live in a foreign land and instead of being recognized as honored Veteran’s, we are treated as savages.  The way we see it is that we were soldiers.  Many who came to America were in fact soldiers who were captured during times of war (in their own homeland) and as a part of the punitive punishment, were enslaved.
When John McCain was imprisoned over in Honai, Vietnam – he was heralded as a Prisoner of War, ran for Senate and for the highest office of P.O.T.U.S, off of that accomplishment.  Was it an accomplishment or did he just did what he had to do to survive?
No different than any black person captured and brought over to this country.  So, why is it that we as blacks are treated any differently?
When those so-called brute savages in Vietnam had all the guns and he was trapped in a foreign land, he had to do what he had to do in order to get-along.  Same goes for us as blacks; Jim Crow Laws, denying our right to vote and escaping slavery, in itself was our way of going-along-to-get-along; it’s not that we weren't capable of doing for ourselves.  We were living before we got here!
No race of people is better than the other, and for a group of people to think that by the color of their skin, that it somehow makes them superior to another race is absolutely ludicrous, preposterous and ridiculous.

We as blacks don’t want to return the unjust behavior that was shown to us and nor do we want revenge, or justice for that matter – we want equality, peace to walk the streets, and to be left alone; because we know that we had a rough start out the gate in life and in this country but we persevered and want to be treated as any Veteran returning home from War – Respect.

30 60 100

30, 60, 100 fold is what God says that we can have.  When I look back over my life, I have been blessed but when I count it up and am honest with myself; I was functioning at 30 fold in my past.  I knew of God but I didn't understand completely what I was getting myself into because I was going along with the flow of where life was carrying me – I didn't realize that I had a choice in the matter.
As my walk in Christ grew through both persecution and progression of going from faith-to-faith and from glory-to-glory; I had an honest truth session; tallying my inventory to be at 60 fold at this time in my life.  And that’s good, because I know that I have grown.  But there is 40 left on the table that I intend to have!
What’s awesome and mind-blowing is that God has blessed me more than I could have ever imagined already, and he’s still empowering my faith to get all that he has for me - 100.
Have you ever lost money, be it by it clumsily falling out of your pocket, playing the lottery or slots, your purse or wallet being stolen, identity theft, the stock market, or hid it from yourself for a rainy day and couldn't remember where you put it?  Either way you lost it – you didn't like the feeling of it!
God is saying there is so much more where that came from, if you just trust in me.  God says when we trust in him – he will do his part and keep it One Hundred with us!

Christmas Lights

Have you ever rode around a neighborhood during Christmas season to see the Christmas lights put up by people who take the time out to string lights and decorations for all who chose to take that slow ride by?  Most of us aren't that committed, therefore, we pile-up in the car and venture out to get that taste of Christmas season without having to put in the effort.
Is that what we are doing within our walk with God?  This faith walk is not only meant for us but for others to also partake.  Many don’t want to put in the work, but would rather see someone else exhibit the light(s) and decorations of a blessed life; and we wonder why the blessings that are spoken of in his Word have not produced the same fruit.
I don’t know about you but I want to be an inspiration that leads others to seek out Christ because of the way I display my life and walk with Christ.  We have to keep living for God – no matter what!  We have to continue to do good, even when it appears that life is kicking us to the curb.  We have to continue to want to grow in God and seek new experiences, in order that we do grow in faith – and sometimes that means going through some things that we’d rather not.
Christmas lights indicate to whomever comes by that this house is in the Christmas spirit.  And that is how we are supposed to live our lives, that our life is exhibiting the Spirit of Christ.
