I Don't "Meme" You No Harm... What Do You "Meme"?

I Don’t “Meme” You No Harm… What do you “Meme”?

I know this might be a shock to some but we cannot live out the life that God calls us to live by living only off of a steady diet of “memes”.  Some think by posting, liking and sharing witty post, that it’s enough to live a healthy lifestyle but it’s deficiency at the highest level; to think that a quick post here or there throughout the day will be the satiety needed to win the daily battle to obtain all that God has for us.

Memes are great and a constant reminder, thanks to social media, to have a constant remembrance of God and who He is in our lives but it doesn't replace fellowship with God and with others in His house of prayer nor the daily commitment to desire to want to seek Him for ourselves.

Don’t allow the danger of a good meme (because there are some very clever and poignant ones that are in rotation throughout the net), but never let anything or anyone separate you from the love of God and the learning of that love out of fear, reverence, and dedication to walking out our lives in faith, in Him, through Christ Jesus.

And I “Meme”that!

A-Maze-Ing… So Retro!

Frankie Beverly and Maze… Need I say more?  Who doesn't finish the entire lyrics to “Before I let go”? You just cannot turn the song off or tune it out when it starts to play… You hear it right now in your head and don’t let it be played at the cook-out or party – it’s what loosens up the stuffy crowd.

Forty-years plus and they have been singing the same tunes, no new album and we still play the songs and they sound as though they’re new to us; that’s what you refer to as a classic album.
Maze has had a forty-year career from singing the same album over and over again – what a career – to have your work be so renowned that you don’t have to ever do another album or record in the studio; your work sells itself… What a blessing of God.

“Joy and Pain” is something that everyone endures and partly the reason for the endurance of the legendary group ensemble.

“We Are One” – they were expressing sentiments that still run through the veins of this nation.  “Happy Feelings”, what we are all in search of… And if I continue on, you just might have to download in your Spotify or Pandora.  It’s contagious vibes I tell ya!

Now I can sing the praises of how great Maze featuring Frankie Beverly is but when I think about the goodness of God, who only gets better with eternity, not just time; who is so old that He’s perpetually made new, morning by morning, Maze fades in comparison.

God is Retro that He at times becomes Nouveau to those that don’t understand that He is the God of yesterday, today and forevermore.

Remember the playlist of God and allow it to ruminate over and again in your spirit and you will find yourself “Back in Stride Again”, because he surely has favored me and stayed His eyes on this little “Southern Girl”.

A Buck Fifty... A Pimple and a Plan.

A Buck Fifty… A Pimple and a Plan.

Definition: a Buck Fifty. A large cut or scar across the face, usually caused by a blade or razor, which needs (or needed) 150 stitches (hence "a buck fifty). For those not up on their hood vernacular…

Scratch, bust or aggravate a pimple PREMATURELY before it’s time and you may cause some skin-deep (DERMIS) scarring that you may regret.  The scar may fade over time but until it does, its prominence seems to be domineering and it consumes your life.

What-da-ya-do when you get something ineradicable or indelible such as “a Buck Fifty” on your face and God says that you must live with it; live with something that isn't pleasant to view by others or oneself?

Well… we have to keep living when life is ugly, shameful and full of the scars of life, no matter if they are protuberant or not; life goes on – In God.

Look at the Singer/Artist Seal; he rode that face right into the heart of Heidi Klum… A Supermodel.
Who doesn't know Michael K. Williams the actor better known as “Omar Little” from the Wire, best known for his menacing real-life buck fifty, smack-dab in the middle of his face.  He was one character you definitely didn't want to dream about chasing you down some dark alley at night… Lord wake me up right now in the name of Jesus… LOL

We laugh when we wake up and find out that it was all a dream, but what do you do when you wake-up and you’re your life is one continual nightmare? One movie trailer after another…
Don’t allow the scars of our past to keep us from the way, the truth and the life of our future.
Trust God to be your healer and your concealer (Girls with any makeup acumen understands this well…)

As with all scars, time fades them away and what we once thought that we can’t live with, we find that it gets easier and eventually, it works as all things do, for our good.

The Hoodxtables...

The Hoodxtables...

When my hubby and I were looking at some old re-runs of the epic television show that made most children like myself, someday hope to have a relationship and family as close to The Huxtables as we could ever hope for; we found ourselves laughing because sans the HBCU degrees of Higher Education (because we both have minor degrees), and the Brownstone dwelling, our family closely resembles that of the The Huxtables and I realized just how blessed we ARE.

I remember thinking that a type of relationship is no where near possible but it's great to muse over and think about, and lo and behold, here I stand in the same blessing I once thought was impossible.

Whatever area of our lives we turn over to God is where He will come in and be Savior of. If we give Him our relationships, He will satisfy us.

If we say God, I give you my tithes but my relationship(s) are off-limits because I need to be the one that chooses my mate because "I" know what's best for me, then God will stay out of it and allow you to continue to choose, and choose, and choose... etc.

Those of us who choose to have God come into "every" area of our lives are the ones who have God navigating our paths and we have Good Success wherever our feet may trodden.

God is the consummate gentleman... He will not force himself into any area of your life that you designate off-limits to Him.

Invite Him in today and leave no area deemed off-limits...

Generations...

Generations...

Your grandparents, YOU and your kids; roughly two generations. And since we know a generation is known generally as 40 years; I m speaking to those in my age bracket of peers and contemporaries.

70 years in captivity of the Babylonians. Again, roughly two generations; that would've meant some were grandparents, parents and children. Some died in captivity even though God said He would be with them and to marry and build houses.

We can be doing everything that God said and still be held captive.

If your parents haven't fulfilled the dreams of their heart, they may be apart of that generation that dies off in the wilderness. We speak frivolously when we speak of the Children of Israel, like it doesn't and couldn't happen to us. They heard and both saw their parents die short of the promise. What would make them think otherwise of their state? They had to believe. Same as us, or our generation is next.

I want to be apart of that generation that goes in and possesses the land - don't you? To be the generation that leaves the inheritance for his children's children.

We must believe God to be set free and to possess the land of no lack, exceeding and abundance; and good success.

Remember the Lord THY God.

Can't Afford It?

Can’t Afford It?

Don’t buy it if you can’t afford it… How many times have we heard that?  Many cannot afford whatever it is that we have our hearts desire set upon.

If you say to yourself, “I’m going to go to college and earn a degree to be able to support my family, purchase a house and vehicle”, and you do just that and retire at 65 or 70 years old; take a vacation once or twice a year and purchase a refrigerator magnet to commemorate where you have ventured or a bottle cap opener – Did you get what you said that you wanted?  Can you be upset with anyone if you got just what you asked for – Did you not ask for just that?

Going to any lender requesting any extension of credit unless in acquisition of another company – you cannot truly afford it – Mortgages are for people who cannot afford to purchase the house outright, same for the five years or more car loan – We cannot afford it, so we borrow  what we want.
And just after the 30 year mortgage is paid, you’re just old enough to live in it a few years before you’re edged out by the kids and into a convalescent home to live out the remainder of your days wondering ”What if” and “What could have been”?

God said that He would give us houses that we didn’t build and vineyards that we didn’t plant.  No one invades and takes over a region that isn’t profitable or well-off.  Napa Valley vineyards are worth an invasion, not our window box planting of herbs.  And waterfront properties are worth a battle, not shanty towns.  When God sent the Israelites in to possess the land, the land was of milk and honey, homes and vineyards because they were going to possess a wealthy land.

I no longer desire what I can afford but rather what I cannot.  If I can’t afford it no way, why not believe for exceeding and abundant?  I cannot afford Salvation but nevertheless, I want it – And I receive it.

We cannot afford the lifestyle we want, so why not simply receive it?

Our country of capitalism is ran off the idea of buy now and pay later.  God’s economy is run off of the idea and principal of faith

If you can’t afford it, then you are perfectly positioned for the miracles of God.  Miracles are birthed from necessity plus the desire to see the hand of God move in our lives.

If you know like me, you don’t want to be able to afford it.
